POLYTRACK, MEASURED

PolyTrack Field Guide: measured, dated

PolyTrack is a low-poly time trial game built on a track editor. Kodub shipped 17 official tracks, a built-in course builder, and asynchronous racing against ghosts of other players. This site is the layer the store listing leaves out: how long a lap actually takes, what the editor refuses to place, and which numbers on the menu mean what.

OFFICIAL ONLY

The game is Kodub’s, and the sentence above is the store’s wording for it. Everything below is our reading of what is on screen, and every page says which of the four marks it is using. We do not invent numbers for anything we have not seen.

Why this site exists

The store page describes PolyTrack well and measures it not at all. It does not say how long a lap is, how many checkpoints a track carries, what the editor will and will not let you place, or how the ghost you race was recorded. Those are the questions a player hits in the first hour, and they are answerable only by playing.

So this is built the slow way: we drive the tracks, we read the counters off the screen, and every number carries a date. Where we have not done that yet, the page says NEEDS CHECK rather than guessing.

What you can read today

Nine pages are live. Three tracks are measured; the editor, the car screen and the share-code format are still stubs, and they say so instead of guessing.

What is missing, and how it gets filled

Four months of updates and 17 official tracks produce a lot of numbers that never make it onto a store page. The plan is one recorded session at a time: the track list first, then a lap on each circuit, then the editor pressed until it refuses. Until a number has that photograph behind it, the page says NEEDS CHECK, and the count of open questions is printed on the pages themselves rather than hidden.
